One frequently described issue: Electric power steering cuts out
The 2010 Fusion moved to electric power-assist steering, and owners report the assist dropping without warning, most often at low speed in parking lots and turns, leaving the wheel suddenly heavy. The pattern eventually became the subject of a federal recall campaign, which appears in the recall table below. The repair replaces the steering gear or its control module, and the parts are not cheap secondhand, which is why the recall matters: check the VIN before paying for it.
